DESIGN & ART Overview


Tiange Li (lives and works between Chicago and Madison) is a multimedia artist and designer. After two years of research on contemporary Chinese art history and museology at the Rhode Island School of Design, Tiange is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
 
We live in a quick shifting world where different ideology, capitalism and social political power drafting our life today.  Tiange’s  works question about the fragility of life and what we sacrifice for development and aspiration shaped by the invisible power, cultrally and socially.

This research is to destabilize the Western dominant understanding of contemporary Chinese art when it circulates on the global art market. Meanwhile, the authority control inside of China is also questioned. Experimenting with type and typography, the design of this book aims to show the critical nature of the content, the opposite and overlaying perspectives of the global and inside of China on Chinese contemporary art.
